Palomino Motel and Restaurant
US #1-15-501 Bypass South Sanford

Sanford Checker promoters: Clint Pickard, Elbert Lowder, Ray Brooks, Sion Kelly, Hal Siler, Fletcher Rosser, John Lux, Attorney H.M. Jackson, and H.M's son George Jackson held many State and Southeastern - District 4 Tourneys at this location in the 70's & 80's.  They played checkers behind double doors in the right far back dinning room, now  where the buffet line & bar is.

I scanned this 1939 postcard and naturally this picture is larger than the card.
This was when they use a 3-day format playing seven or eight 4-game rounds in two and one-half or three days, scoring by match - winner takes all.
